HOLIDAY EMERGENCY

I just returned from a very well deserved and needed break with my family. Our last holiday was month and month ago and we were all tired. Of work, of school, of daycare, of everything actually. We went back to our favourite hotel at the foot of the Alps. The hotel is far from hip and happening and I don't think they would recognize an Eames if they tripped over one, but we just love it. We enjoyed walks in the mountains and woods, swam in the outdoor (hot)pools, had breakfast in the sun, ate great food and played both inside as well as outside. We even had a snowball fight, saw a 3 hour old baby horse and the boys went for a tour in a convertible racecar (yes the white one in the picture). But most of all, we enjoyed having time together and having to do ab-so-lute-ly nothing and just went as we saw fit. :)

On the day we left my boy bumped his heads against a hard stone table and we needed to go to the emergency room for his first, but probably not his last stitch. Auch. But kids are so resilient. After 15 minutes he was laughing again and enjoying his icecream. The day we returned we were back at the emergency room as my boy fell chasing his sister and had his tooth through his lip, both inside as well as outisde. No stitches needed this time, but a great scare nonetheless. And again icecream was the remedy. I know my boy loves icecream, but I hope he won't use the ER to often to get it.

BLOGBREAK IS OVER!

Long overdue, but I just have been so all over the place lately that my mind was just not with blogging. It was, in the way I felt I needed to blog, but I just didn't have the inspiration.
My mind was just to preocupied with work, my interior design course, my oldest' birthday, our 6th year anniverdary and so on. No excuse not to blog but sometimes you just feel your priorities are elsewhere.
The coming two weeks my oldest school is closed and we are going away for a well deserved couple of days.  I am looking forward to some quality time with my sweeties, reading my interior design magazines, fresh mountain air, walking and just realx a bit.
This afternoon we will start with visiting the Rijksmuseum that recently reopend it's doors after being under severe construction the past years. I look forward to taking my kids there and initiating them into the rich culture with the museum. And Tuesday is our world renowned Queensday, which we do not want to miss as our queen has her abdication this year and her oldest son, Willem Alexander, will become our King and Maxima our Queen. We will be following all closely on television but also will enjoy some of the 'freemarkets' where kids (and their parents) sell old toys, books, clothes etc. My kids will get some pocketmoney to buy some little treasures they come across.

Happy Queensday to all!

BRIGHT + LIGHT

I realy love this Eastern London house. Light, white, woods and big windows with dark frames in the kitchen area. It is just so lovely in its simplicity, I would just love to live in it with my family. It would fit like a glove.

ON A CHAIR MISSION

Last weekend we drove to Amsterdam to go dining chair hunting. My moodboard on Pinterest is pretty clear on what I want, but as I do have a partner he also has a say (although a smaller one then I do for obvious reasons ;)) in what kind of chair he fancies.
I have been researching and assembling pictures on my ideal chair for quit some time. It needs to be light (both in color as well as in not to massive), versatile, modern yet timeless. My man agrees, but, now comes the tricky part, at the same time he expects the chair to have the comfort of a lounge chair. You see our little problem here? Style vs lounge comfort.
We went to The Frozen Fountain as they do have 'my' DSW Eames chair, with wooden legs and my man wanted to 'test sit', before deciding on the chairs. Good point.  I think 'my' chairs are comfortable and could easily get you through a rainy afternoon crafting with your kids on the dining table or a dinner with friends. But after a brief encounter with the DSW last Saturday my man doesnt (yet) agree here and we are going to 'test sit' during a dinner, soon... I hope this changes his mind as I already have visuals of my DSW Eames' in our home.
